The 2009 Rachel Carson Lecture, "Sustainability, Discounting and Cooperation: The Need for New Institutions," was delivered by Simon Levin on Dec. 10, 2009 at the MSU Packaging Building Auditorium.
Simon Levin is a world-renowned ecologist and environmental scientist. He is the George M. Moffett Professor of Biology in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University. Levin has received numerous honors and awards, including membership in the National Academy of Sciences, the Kyoto Prize in Basic Sciences, the Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences, the first Okubo Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Institute of Biological Sciences.
Levin also received an honorary doctorate from MSU while he was on campus to deliver the Rachel Carson Lecture.
