Topic: Birding and Mindfulness
This month for birds and coffee chat we will be joined by Kristy Taylor for a focus on Birding and Mindfulness, learn how to combine birding and nature discovery with a sense of place and the practice of mindfulness. Kristy will share ways to help you look at birding differently, and use your time outdoors to create a sense of peace, focus and enjoyment. We will pay attention to bird behaviors, the environment, sounds and our influence on the natural spaces around us.
Kristy Taylor is the current president of Capital Area Audubon and serves seasonally as the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Michigan State Bird Observatory. The Michigan State Bird Observatory operates two banding stations just north of East Lansing integrating avian research, the training of current and future wildlife professionals and the education of people of all ages, while showcasing the diversity of avian wildlife inhabiting mid-Michigan.
