Grab your morning beverage and join us to learn more about five MI bird species! Each session we’ll highlight birds that you can find in our SW Michigan backyards, woods, and waters this time of year.
We will be highlighting: an Introduction to Mindfulness and Birding. (Seth Chapman)
"This month's Birds and Coffee chat will feature Seth Chapman, who will discuss combining birding and nature discovery with mindfulness practices. Being present in the moment is an essential aspect of mindfulness, and it can help us connect better with nature and improve ourover all well-being, and thus, the well-being of the world at large. In this discussion, we will incorporate the teachings of Yoga and mindfulness into our birding experience, so that we may simultaneously hone and enhance our natural birding skills and develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and our environment."
Seth has a lifelong passion for birds, and loves sharing his enthusiasm of the bird world with those around him. His interest in birds led him to begin his life list at the age of 10. He also volunteers at the Kalamazoo Nature Center where he helps at the banding station during migration, and assists in various bird counts/studies throughout southwest Michigan."
