- [Instructor] Hello and welcome to Instructional Technology and Developments Certification Pathway Program. By taking part in this series, you will enhance your pedagogical skills, explore best practices, and be able to integrate technology more effectively into your teaching. The certification pathways that are offered are: crafting your course content, creating and tracking assessments, designing a course at MSU, engaging students in your course, and lastly, providing an accessible and inclusive environment for learning. This certification pathway is designing a course at MSU. This series of workshops has been crafted to empower faculty in course creation with the tools, strategies, and insights necessary to design and deliver high-quality educational experiences across various modalities. There are five sessions within this certification pathway. The first session that is included is: Achieving your Course Goals with Backwards Design. Within this session, you will learn the backwards design process to ensure that every element of your course, from learning objectives to assessments and instructional materials, systematically supports student's success. The second session is Classroom Technology Overview: Maximizing Student Learning and Engagement Across Modalities. You will familiarize yourself with the various technologies that enhance student learning across different teaching modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid environments. The third session is a choice between Designing an Engaging Asynchronous Online Course in D2L Brightspace and Hybrid/HyFlex Course Design and Delivery: Blending the Best of Both Worlds. With Designing an Engaging Asynchronous Course session, you will explore the key characteristics of effective asynchronous course design and discover customizable models and essential resources to simplify your course development process in D2L Brightspace. For the Hybrid/HyFlex Course Design and Delivery session, you'll dive into the design and delivery of Hybrid and HyFlex courses, combining in-person and online instruction to cater to diverse learning preferences and requirements. The fourth session is Incorporating UDL into the Design of your Course. Immerse yourself in universal design for learning principles to create inclusive course materials and varied assessments, fostering a richer learning experience. The final session in this series is Reviewing an Online or Hybrid course through Quality Matters. Understand the various avenues for obtaining constructive feedback on your online or hybrid courses, including peer reviews, specialist consultations, and formal quality matters assessments. Through these sessions, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of modern educational strategies and technologies that will enable you to craft courses that not only meet educational standards, but also the unique needs and potentials of your students.
