Colleagues,
At this week’s Explorations in Instructional Technologies brown bag seminar John Bell and William Cain, both of the College of Education, will present “Collaboratively Embodied Content in Synchronous Learning Environments.”
TIME: Friday, September 16, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
PLACE: Room 105 Natural Science Building.
Embodiment and Social Presence are important frameworks for understanding the experience of people being brought together via technology such as videoconference and robotic telepresence. Collaboratively embodied content applies these same frameworks to interactions that give priority to the embodiment of the content on collaboration, in which people are also embodied in a thinner form. In this talk, we will explore the concept of collaboratively embodied content and illustrate it using Google Docs as well as Microsoft HoloLens technology.
This session will be of interest to all who are would like to learn more about the HoloLens technology and also how technologies of this nature impact social interactions as a result of the embodiment and how this compares to traditional in-person collaboration or audio only collaboration.
