This animation, "GIS: Putting Geographic Information Systems to Work For You," was created by Harris County Flood Control District (
https://www.hcfcd.org/). This animation is used in the Introduction to GIS lesson on GEO221v and onGEO's Professional Course IGT-Intro to Geospatial Technology.
The animation has no audio. The animation show the various elements of a landscape (land, river, city boundary, roads, a park, and a floodplain). The landscape then is tilted near flat and each element of the landscape is pulled up off the landscape into its own GIS layer: city boundary, streets, floodplain, park, and river channel. The streets layer is then exchanged for a NEW streets layer and then all of the GIS layers are merged and flattened into a map view.
