The first step to understanding what concerns our Spartan colleagues during this tumultuous COVID-19 pandemic is simple – Ask. On March 11, 2020 the MSU community was informed that in-person classes would be suspended until April 20, 2020. In response, the WorkLife Office launched a feedback survey on March 13, 2020 to gather responses from MSU faculty and staff about challenges and expectations of working from home. We would now like to share a summary of that data with you!
Who Should Attend? All faculty, staff, and post-docs are encouraged to attend to learn about one another. It is important that all Spartans attend this session, especially supervisors! Take a moment and think about your priorities. Are you fully aware of your direct reports’ concerns? Does your boss know how frustrating your spotty internet is at home, the small size of your home computer screen, or how slow your home computer is? This is a time to learn from each other. We encourage all support staff to personally invite your supervisors to this session!
Key ObjectivesParticipants will leave with the following:
Better understanding of your colleagues’ concerns and struggles
New practical techniques to improve team functioning
We will use the survey results to guide the discussion. You might have noticed that there is no mention of COVID-19 in the objectives. That was intentional. This should be an eye-opening session. Grab a cup of coffee and join us April 21, 2020 from 10a – 11a.
