Privilege, Oppression, and You

The purpose of this topic is to get you to start thinking critically about the concepts of social privilege, social oppression, and what role you play in helping to address these  issues. To get stated you will watch a series of videos that give examples of what social oppression looks like in the context of U.S. society in 2020. You will then review a lecture that dives into the concepts of Cycles of Socialization and Cycles of Liberation. Our purpose is to get you to think reflectively about how  your position as a resident assistant gives you a unique opportunity to help address the oppression of your peers within the university context.
