Serving the Urban Grower: Deepening Equity, Access & Support is a four‑part training series designed for agricultural service providers, agency staff, and partner organizations who work with — or want to better support — urban producers. This series brings together history, human rights perspectives, community voices, and practical program insights to help participants understand the unique challenges of the urban growing environment and strengthen how USDA and other farm resource programs serve diverse producers.
Across four interactive sessions, we will explore the roots of structural barriers, highlight examples of equity‑driven practice, and elevate lived experiences from farmers, organizers, and advocates. From historical context to policy pathways to community-grounded solutions, each webinar builds toward one goal: improving access, understanding, and support for urban growers across Michigan.
Session 4: Beyond the Policies: Real stories and perspectives from producers, organizers, human rights advocates, and USDA partners working to advance equitable access.
