This presentation by Margherita Naim on Venetian photography was given on June 14, 2019, as part of the ARLIS/NA IRC Venice Study Tour. In mid-nineteenth century Venice, photographers, collectors, amateurs and institutions recognized the importance of the photographic medium and focused their attention on the care of photographic materials. Naim presents an overview of some of the main 19th- and 20th-century photographic collections preserved in Venetian libraries, archives, and museums, discussing their scope and acquisitions process, as well as online access.
