In Spring 2025, the WACSS Book Club read Privilege and Prejudice: The Life of a Black Pioneer by Dr. Clifton Wharton JR. To celebrate the end of the book club, WACSS partnered with the Wharton Center to bring an engaging presentation.
As Wharton Center celebrates 43 years, named in honor of MSU’s 14th President, Dr. Clifton Wharton JR., we honor the visionaries who transformed a bold idea into the premiere performing arts center of Michigan. From its founding dream to its vibrant present, Wharton Center has not only elevated the cultural landscape on campus—but across the entire state.
Through this presentation we will learn highlights of Wharton Center and its evolution as an organization and discover how its statewide arts education initiatives now reach over 30,000 students each season, inspiring the next generation through the power of performance.
